Growing up in this fast-paced city, it’s nothing but normal to feel lonely since we all pine for different things in lives. Despite the fact that we have been absorbing lots of knowledge from textbooks in school, none of which had taught us how to deal with passive emotions. As the curtain of night fell upon the city, everyone had already gone into deep slumber except me; when I seated myself in front of the elongated desk, with the adorable moon casting a slight beam into my sight, I would always feel a sense of loneliness. I feel alone on the way of pursuing my dreams, which is full of quandaries and frustration, and I often have the idea of giving up on it.
If my memory serves me right, it was a placid night with stars glimmering in the sky, and I watched a movie named “The Little Prince”. This movie impressed me and gave me new perspectives when encountering predicaments. At first, I esteem it a fairy tale, and I wasn’t deeply immersed in it. However, when I saw the scene that the old pilot was sent to the hospital, tears welled up my eyes. The pilot is like the main character in the movie, not just on the essence, but the meaning of not losing one’s creativity and curiosity even if one grew up. I asked myself, “What is growing up, and what would it cost me?”
I believe everyone has heard of the proverb, “Life is never a bed of roses.” While I’m walking on the seemingly rosy road called youth, I have to face miscellaneous challenges, and I may be knocked down by anyone of them. Growing up is painful and lonely, yet it is also indispensable. If I hadn’t gone through all these conundrums, I wouldn’t have grown and become a better version of myself. Nowadays, I sometimes still feel disconsolate and helpless, but now I know that loneliness is what it cost to become a prominent adult, so I’m more willing to face it, and strive to be the person I’ve always wanted to be.
